Kaya and Kaan’s Sunnet, Le Montage

I met Kaya and Kaan’s parents, Dilek and Yekta back in 2005 when they asked me to photograph their wedding. I’ve been in Australia for less than three months and it was my first Aussie wedding. So, it was very special to hear from them again (100 Aussie weddings later…) a few months ago. And they’ve done it again! They asked me to shoot the Sunnet of their sons. And, that was my first Sunnet…

A ‘Sunnet’ is a Turkish tradition celebrating the passage from childhood into manhood.

We started the day with a little shoot in Centennial Park and then, friends and family of Dilek and Yekta were invited for a lunch a Le Montage where, as it is in many Mediterranean cultures, everyone passed more time dancing than seating at a table.

Enjoy the photos!
